Gowreeswaram Temple

Gowreeswaram Temple, Hindu pilgrimage centre The Gowreeswaram temple is an important Hindu pilgrimage centre in Kerala built in 1912. It was dedicated to the Hindu god Murugan, the god of war. The idol was installed by the great social reformer Narayana Guru. The temple is renowned for its legendary festival with the trumpeting of more than 25 elephants, the compelling percussion of Panchavadya (a ethnic percussion ensemble) playing on the lawn and the thrilling fireworks display, all part of time honored traditions.
